Pippa Middleton digs in her heels at the idea of product placement

Prince William's new sister-in-law insists on no 'freebies' at the Royal wedding

A spokesman for Aruna Seth shoes informs me that Pippa Middleton wore a pair of their shoes for some of the Royal wedding festivities. Surely Prince William's new sister-in-law wasn't engaging in a spot of product placement?

Not a bit of it. "We offered her a pair as a gift, actually, but there was no way Pippa would not pay," she says. "She is lovely."

She adds that it makes a change. She says one greedy "celebrity" wanted 20 free pairs. It was not, I should add, Imelda Marcos.

Nancy Dell'Olio is ready for her close-up

As a postscript to my disclosure that Nancy Dell'Olio has a penchant for what she calls "passionate men" – whether it be Sven-Goran Eriksson, who seeks perfection on the pitch, or Sir Trevor Nunn, her current boyfriend, who seeks in on the stage – I hear that the Italian temptress let nothing detract from her sojourn earlier this month at the great director's holiday home in Cornwall.
